Is your company willing to help relocate Ukrainian developers to Sweden and offer them a position in your tech team? Join our initiative!

WeTal is a platform that matches developers with jobs in Stockholm. Due to the situation in Ukraine, a lot of people are now fearing for the safety of themselves and their families. We have decided to open our platform to Ukrainian developers who want to relocate to Sweden. The purpose of this initiative is to help Ukrainian developers get in touch with Swedish companies that can offer them a position in their tech team in Sweden. All the companies who are joining the initiative will be shown on our Ukraine website —> www.wetal.com/ukraine.

Here is a guide on how to use WeTal's platform to find Ukrainian developers:

1. Sign up for free as a company and check the “we help”-box
If you're not a WeTal member yet, sign up for free and create a company profile. By checking the ”we help”-box in your profile your company is participating in the Ukraine campaign, which means it will be listed on our specific Ukraine page (www.wetal.com/ukraine). By checking the "we help"-box you'll also let Ukrainian developers know that you are welcoming them to our country and your business. Creating a company profile is free of charge.

2. Edit your profile
In your company profile, you can share information about the job role, skills that are needed and what you can offer Ukrainian refugees (such as remote possibilities, train or flight tickets, accommodation).
PLEASE NOTE! You don't need to create a job ad, just write in your company profile what you can offer Ukrainian devs!

3. We onboard Ukrainian developers to the WeTal platform for companies to match and get in contact with.
Depending on how the situation develops, we'll onboard Ukrainian developers and spread the information to as many people as possible in Ukraine via social media.

How to relocate Ukrainian Devs
Latest update 2022-03-25:

Before you start the relocate-process of Ukrainian developers there are some things you need to be aware of. We’re constantly updating this blog post with the latest information from Migrationsverket.

When hiring someone from a country outside of the EU, the person (in most cases) needs a work permit. According to Migrationsverket, the EU has decided to activate the Temporary Protection Directive. This means that anyone who comes to Sweden from Ukraine can get immediate protection and a temporary residence permit, the permit gives Ukrainians the right to work (Read more HERE). Ukrainian citizens with biometric national passports or Schengen visas can stay in Sweden for 90 days. If they want to extend their visit they need to apply for a visitor permit, work permit or asylum. To be covered by the directive, you must have left Ukraine on 24 February 2022 or later. Your job ads need to be published on Arbetsförmedlingen!
When recruiting new employees who don’t live in the EU, you must advertise the position so that all residents in Sweden, the EU/EEA and Switzerland can apply for the job. You can do this by advertising for at least ten days in the Swedish Public Employment Service (Arbetsförmedlingen) job bank. Read more HERE!

Hire a remote developer
Due to the situation in their country, men between 18 and 60 years old are not allowed to leave Ukraine. You can help by hiring a Ukrainian developer as a consultant to work remotely from Ukraine. Ukrainian developers create a legal entity (FOP) in which they can cooperate with companies around the world. Swedish companies register the developers as consultants, and their salaries are paid to their accounts by FOP.

Can any company relocate developers?
Yes, you don’t need to be certified to hire someone from a non-EU country. There are two ways to start the process if your company is not certified. The first option is to hire an agency. There are a lot of certified agencies that can help out with the paperwork and make the process easier and quicker. They usually charge 25 000 SEK. The second option is to apply by yourself, it costs 4000 SEK and takes between 3-6 months for Migrationsverket to approve or not approve your application.
